Hey all! Randomslasher here. Thought we'd try something a little different.
As most of you know,
thuri and I have several things in the works at all times. But it's recently gotten to the point of being a little bit...well, ridiculous, to be perfectly honest. Our attention is spread so thin that not much gets more than a few paragraphs' worth of attention at any given time, and it means that we're having trouble getting anything finished.
So we thought we would turn to you guys! Over the next five days, we are going to be posting passages from five WIPs we currently are working on--and by "passage" I mean anything from five to fifteen pages, depending on the story and how much we feel is appropriate to give you a decent taste. At the end of five days, we'll post a poll, and you guys can tell us what sounds more interesting.
It'd be a great personal favor to us if you would participate; I think a little encouragement could go a long way to getting our scatter-brained muses to focus. Any and all participation would be greatly appreciated, whether you want to comment on each passage, comment at the end, or just fill out the poll. Whatever moves you--all of it would be wonderfully helpful.
The five pieces, all JD/Perry, from which we have selected to post snippets are:
Wednesday
Rentboy: An AU in which JD never makes it through high school, and an abusive home situation forces him to move to California and become a prostitute.
Thursday
Civil War: An AU in which JD finds the medical journal of the civil war surgeon Percival Catherwood, wherein he discusses his involvement in the Battle of Wilson's Creek and the training of his apprentice, Jonathan Dwyer.
Friday
Reunion: An AU (noting a theme, are we?) in which JD is forced to leave Sacred Heart after only his first year to take care of his ailing mother, and returns three years later for Turk and Carla's wedding to find that, with the help of his former mentor, the dream he'd given up on might not be so out-of-reach after all.
Saturday
Merfic: Wild AU featuring a 23-year-old Perry Cox who, while spending a weekend with his roommate Ben at the Sullivan beach house, is washed overboard the sailing vessel he's borrowing and rescued by a young merman.
Sunday
Children of Eden: The sequel to Changeling. Nearly a year after the Change first hit, the last wave is complete, and civilization as we know it is all but in ruins. JD, Perry, and the others have been given the task of aiding the sick and wounded, and helping them to the Fae colonies that are being established across the continents. But one radical group who call themselves the Children of Eden believe the Change is a curse, and they will stop at nothing to rid the world of its evil--even at the expense of humanity itself.
Thanks for your time! Hope to see you guys throughout the week!

Date: 27 Nov 2007 22:50 (UTC)I do have mad insane love for Changeling so just I can't imagine not adoring Children of Eden. But Reunion sounds wonderful and Rentboy is something I don't think many authors could pull off, but you two on the other hand. OK be prepared for me to love them all. Did I mention how much I worshipped Changeling (just in case you forgot)

Date: 1 Feb 2009 00:03 (UTC)for some reason I've been on a major jd/cox kick over the last few days, and I've been wading me way through all the fics I have mem'd and saved.
Changling & Imaginary Friend are 2 of my v fav fics in this fandom, but reading over these WIPs has just made me hungry for more of your fabulous jd/cox fics!
I was just wondering if you had any idea when any one of these might be continued?
