[completely unrelated note: I just have to say, because it just started and I started laughing hysterically. The girl figure skating right now is skating to "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" which shouldn't amuse me quite so much as it does, but oh well. It's a gorgeous instrumental arrangement of it though. Which is apparently a medley because it's now "Past the Point of No Return" and I wasn't a scary Phangirl, noooo.]
This is indeed a very alternate AU, but the story itself still just works. And I cannot express how gleeful I was when I finally realized where JD as a name comes from in this one. THAT took me a while.
